Plug & Play in Silicon Valley
Is your start-up ready for Silicon Valley?
- Is your start-up in the ICT sector?
- Do you have at least one MVP (minimum viable product)?
- Is your start-up showing substantial traction?
- Is your product or service of interest to the US market and are you committed to breaking into the US market?
If you can say yes to all of the above, you may be ready for Silicon Valley, one of the most dynamic environments in the world for start-ups, offering access to venture capital, large corporations and innovation oriented universities. With big names like Facebook, Twitter or Google making up part of the ecosystem, many companies excel in upscaling through this environment.
Plug & Play Tech Center
In 2011, the Ministry of the Economy signed a partnership with the accelerator Plug & Play Tech Center to send innovative Luxembourg start-ups to Silicon Valley for a chance to break into the US market. This “seed stage investor and global innovation platform” has already accelerated more than 2,000 start-ups from all over the world since 2006. Success stories include Dropbox, PayPal and Lending Club.
Plug & Play in numbers
In collaboration with the Ministry of the Economy, four Luxembourg-based start-ups in the ICT sector can be sent annually to the Plug & Play Tech Center in Silicon Valley. At the beginning of each term they are sent to participate in Plug & Play’s international programme, which kicks off with a welcome week that includes intensive training on the Silicon Valley environment and on how to pitch and how to speak to investors.
The programme offers access to:
- A place from where you can work
- Logistical support
- Networking events
- Mentors and advisors
- Corporate relationships
Eligibility criteria: ICT start-up, having at least an MVP (minimum viable product) and showing substantial traction. The US market should be of particular interest.
Duration: 3-month-programme, starting at beginning of each trimester
Price: The cost of the entire programme is paid by the Ministry of the Economy and selected start-ups receive a €5,000 grant on top for the journey. Any additional expenditure must be covered by the company.
