Horizon Europe Pillar 1 “Excellent Science”

Perform groundbreaking research

Apply for Horizon Europe funding to conduct pioneering research and explore revolutionary scientific concepts with top-tier scholars and beyond or to develop essential research infrastructure.

Do you want to perform groundbreaking research, boost your research career or collaborate with the top research facilities in Europe?

The EU’s research and innovation programme Horizon Europe helps the best minds from Europe and beyond converge to tackle complex challenges through its Pillar 1, “Excellent Science”. It offers funding in three strategic areas, targeting the different career stages and needs of researchers:

  • The European Research Council (ERC) supports frontier research by funding individual researchers and their groundbreaking ideas. Instruments include grants for early-career researchers, experienced researchers and established, leading researchers. There is also funding fostering collaboration between multiple excellent researchers, and grants that support ERC grant holders in exploring the commercial potential or societal applications of their research results.
  • The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) provide opportunities for researcher training, mobility and career development. Instruments include individual fellowships for the mobility and career development of experienced researchers, funding for joint doctoral training networks and for research and innovation staff exchange, and co-funding for regional, national and interregional researcher mobility and training programmes.
  • The Research Infrastructures (RI) instruments focus on developing and maintaining essential research infrastructures – laboratories, databases, observatories and other specialised facilities – that enable cutting-edge scientific investigations.

We can support you throughout the entire application process and during the project lifetime. We can help you:

  • assess the most relevant calls for proposals and course of action for your research projects
  • identify past and on-going projects and key players that can be helpful for your proposal
  • advise on the proposal writing and review your draft
  • provide support with legal and financial matters at the proposal stage and during the implementation of the project
