Nearly 500 startups have applied for the 16th edition of the acceleration programme managed by Luxinnovation.
The call for applications for the 16th edition of Fit 4 Start, announced at the end of June during Nexus Luxembourg 2025, closed on Monday 11 August.
Launched 10 years ago by the Ministry of the Economy, the programme’s reputation has now spread far beyond Luxembourg’s borders, attracting more applicants each year. For the upcoming edition, which will start in January 2026, Luxinnovation received 495 applications. This represents a 16% increase compared to the 428 applications received for the 15th edition, setting a new record in Fit 4 Start’s history.
“This strong interest reflects the in-depth work carried out over the past decade to make Luxembourg’s startup ecosystem a top destination for entrepreneurs seeking an environment conducive to growth,” says Mickael Borger, Advisor - Start-Up Relations at Luxinnovation. “The tremendous dedication of our coaches, experts, mentors, jury members and programme partners is now more widely recognised internationally.”
Over 60% of the candidates for this 16th edition come from abroad (302 versus 193 from Luxembourg). The most represented countries include South Korea (31), the United Kingdom (19), the United States and Germany (18 each).
“Fit 4 Start continues to reinforce Luxembourg’s position as a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. Each edition brings together ambitious startups from around the world, driving economic growth, creating jobs and accelerating innovative solutions in key sectors,” adds Mr Borger.
Following a detailed review by the selection committee, shortlisted startups will pitch their projects during the Luxembourg Venture Days on 22 and 23 October. The jury will then select 20 startups to join the six-month specialised coaching programme.
Each participant will receive €50,000 in funding from the Ministry of the Economy, provided they are incorporated in Luxembourg. Those that successfully raise private funding and employ at least two staff members will also be eligible for an additional €100,000 in state aid.
There are still opportunities to join the jury for the Fit 4 Start Pitching Days. Those interested can review the conditions and apply online.
In addition, from 1 to 30 September, applications will open for coaches for the 16th edition of Fit 4 Start, which will run in the first half of 2026.
