Two calls for projects for electric truck charging

The Ministry of the Economy has announced two new calls for projects aimed at supporting the energy transition of companies involved with heavy vehicles.

Alongside the "electric sessions" organised by Klima Agence as part of the Klimapakt fir Betriber, the Ministry of the Economy unveiled the launch of two new tenders for heavy-duty vehicle charging infrastructure and clean technology trucks.

  • The first call focuses on the purchase of zero-emission vehicles and conversion to zero-emission vehicles, with a budget of €10 million, divided into three categories:
    • Lot 1: Category N2 lorries, with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) of more than 3.5 tonnes and up to 12 tonnes.
    • Lot 2: Category N3 trucks, with an MAM of more than 12 tonnes and up to 28 tonnes.
    • Lot 3: Category N3 trucks, with an MAM of more than 28 tonnes.
  • The second call involves establishing charging infrastructure for N2 and N3 category lorries. It has a budget of €4 million and is solely focused on deploying charging infrastructure that is 100% powered by renewable electricity and is intended to be operational for at least five years from the date of commissioning.

These two calls have been open since Monday 20 July 2026 and will close on 18 September 2026.

Upcoming calls in sight

By the end of the year, an additional call for projects will be launched to support the deployment of large, publicly accessible charging parks dedicated to heavy-duty electric vehicles along major motorways. This initiative aims to contribute to establishing a European fast-charging network, enabling electric trucks to travel efficiently across Europe.

Furthermore, a call for projects is planned for early 2027, aimed at all types of charging infrastructure, to strengthen Luxembourg's charging network more generally for all vehicle types.
