Electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, particularly charging stations, is critical for widespread adoption of sustainable transportation. Launched in 2022, the aid scheme introduced by the Ministry of the Economy and Ministry of Energy and Spatial Planning supports companies of all sizes investing in EV infrastructure.
Following the fourth call for EV infrastructure projects early in 2024, 34 projects by 17 companies across Luxembourg for the installation of 434 new charging stations have been selected. A total amount of €4.8 million in state aid will be provided as part of this call for projects. The companies will receive up to a 50% subsidy on their investments.
The number of approved charging points has also increased constantly since the first call.

We can conclude that this scheme is a success. This success of the scheme constitutes an important pillar for the decarbonisation of mobility and transport and removes an obstacle for electromobility," notes Minister of Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles.
The selected companies represent a diverse mix of applicants, including petrol stations, supermarkets, hotel operators and industrial companies. The 434 stations with a total charging capacity of 27,012 kilowatts, comprise of 224 private, and 210 public terminals.
Until 15 October 2024, companies can send in their applications for the fifth call for projects. It is open to any type of infrastructure with a maximum aid intensity of 50%.
Another aid scheme reserved for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) under the recovery and resilience plan of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg provides a subsidy of up to 50% of the costs related to charging stations and up to 60% of the costs related to connection to the electricity grid. This aid is capped at EUR 60,000 for the costs of connection to the electricity grid and EUR 40,000 for other costs related to deployment per company.
The national innovation agency, Luxinnovation can advise, guide and support interested companies in preparing their financial aid applications.
