In today’s economic climate, where innovation is more crucial than ever for businesses, FEDIL – The Voice of Luxembourg’s Industry, the federation of Luxembourg industrialists, is launching the 27th edition of its Innovation Award to coincide with the World Day of Creativity and Innovation on 21 April.
For 2026, FEDIL has chosen to partner with the national innovation agency, Luxinnovation. Independent companies, researchers and innovators based in Luxembourg have until 6 July 2026 to submit their applications. The winners will be honoured at a ceremony on 30 November at Banque de Luxembourg.
Awarded by FEDIL since 1982, alternating annually with the Environment Prize, this award recognises projects that bring significant added value to the Luxembourg economy. It celebrates innovators and researchers working within companies, as well as independent innovators and young talents.
Collaborating with FEDIL is fully in line with our mission to recognise and encourage the concrete efforts of companies in innovation, which is essential for remaining competitive. Mario Grotz, Luxinnovation
Projects must stand out for their innovative character, originality and potential contribution to the country’s economic development.
Innovation as a lever of economic development
“Since 1982, FEDIL has been committed, through this award, to encouraging research, innovation and excellence within companies. To date, 96 winners have been recognised. This 27th edition will mark the symbolic milestone of one hundred awards, illustrating our long-term commitment to creativity and technological progress,” says René Winkin, Director of FEDIL.
“Luxinnovation and FEDIL have shared the same objective for more than 40 years: to make innovation a lever for sustainable economic development in Luxembourg. As the national innovation agency, we support nearly a thousand companies each year in their innovation efforts, from startups to large established groups. Collaborating with FEDIL for this award is fully in line with our mission to recognise and encourage the concrete efforts of companies in innovation, which is essential for remaining competitive,” explains Mario Grotz, CEO of Luxinnovation.
Why innovation strengthens business competitiveness
The stakes are clear: According to studies by the OECD and the European Commission, companies that invest in data-driven innovation see their productivity grow 5% to 10% faster than those that do not invest in these areas.
This Innovation Award aims to recognise and encourage these concrete efforts, which contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of Luxembourg companies.
The jury, composed of experts from the public and private sectors, will announce the winners of the 2026 Innovation Award at the end of November.
