Fit 4 Sustainability: increased support
Luxembourg companies can now obtain up to 80% co-financing via Fit 4 Sustainability to find out how to reduce their environmental footprint.

This is very good news for Luxembourg companies looking to reduce their environmental footprint: the ceiling for co-financing granted by the Ministry of the Economy under the Fit 4 Sustainability programme has been increased by 10 percentage points for all categories of companies. The environmental footprint measures the impact of a company’s activities on the environment, particularly in terms of energy consumption, CO₂ emissions and waste management.
A significant increase in aid
Luxembourg companies now benefit from co-financing rates increased by 10 percentage points:
- Small businesses: up to 80% co-financing (previously 70%);
- Medium-sized enterprises: up to 60% (compared to 50%);
- Large companies: up to 50% (compared to 40%).
This co-financing covers the fees and ancillary costs (travel) of the consultant referenced by Luxinnovation, who is in charge of the environmental study. This increase is intended to encourage more companies to commit to a sustainability approach and to facilitate access to professional environmental assessments.
What is the Fit 4 Sustainability programme?
Launched in September 2022, the Fit 4 Sustainability programme helps Luxembourg companies assess and reduce their environmental footprint. It allows companies to benefit from the expertise of an external consultant referenced by Luxinnovation, specialised in the environmental assessment of companies, to carry out a complete environmental study of their activities. The programme provides personalised recommendations and financial support for the implementation of sustainable practices.
Who are the eligible companies?
The programme is open to Luxembourg companies of all sizes and sectors. Whether you are a small craft business, an industrial SME or a large company, you can benefit from this support to measure and improve your environmental performance.
Already 70 companies supported
Since its launch, there has been growing interest in the programme. Around 70 companies have already taken part or are currently in the process of doing so. Energy efficiency assessments and carbon footprints are the most frequent requests, especially in the current context of the energy transition.
“This increase in funding rates represents a strong signal of Luxembourg’s commitment to the environmental transition,” says Emmanuelle Kipper, Senior Advisor - Assessments & Roadmaps at Luxinnovation. “We strongly encourage all companies, regardless of their size, to take this opportunity to assess their environmental impact and implement concrete actions. Sustainability and competitiveness are inextricably linked: reducing your environmental footprint also means reducing costs and strengthening your competitive position in the market.”
How to participate in the programme?
Luxinnovation supports companies throughout the implementation of the Fit 4 Sustainability programme to:
- Check their eligibility;
- Guide them in the choice of the expert;
- Support them with the administrative procedures for the grant application;
- Identify public aid that may help them implement the consultant’s recommendations.
