Join the AI community on regulation and innovation

“Regulation Meets Innovation” (RE.M.I.) fosters dialogue between innovators and regulators, promoting responsible, compliant practices in the AI and digital space.

For pioneering companies, regulation can be both a barrier and a catalyst for innovation. Frameworks such as the EU’s AI Act – the world’s first comprehensive legal framework for artificial intelligence (AI) – and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) significantly influence how businesses operate and innovate within the digital domain.

To address this complex relationship, the National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD) and the Luxembourg AI Factory have joined forces to launch RE.M.I., a platform to facilitate meaningful, structured dialogue between stakeholders in AI, digital innovation and regulation. This includes startups, corporates, public institutions, academics and regulators.

“The implementation of regulation – and particularly how it’s applied in practice – greatly affects the ability of companies to innovate and bring compliant solutions to market,” explains Fateh Amroune, Luxembourg AI Factory Lead at Luxinnovation. “With RE.M.I., we aim to create a space for open exchange where AI and regulation experts can meet face to face, address challenges and co-develop recommendations and best practices.”

A community of practice for AI

At the heart of RE.M.I. is an AI community of practice that will tackle sector-specific and cross-sector issues, focusing on:

  • Governance
  • Interoperability
  • Regulatory frameworks
  • Strategic challenges

To support focused discussions and practical collaboration, the community will establish thematic working groups. These may explore areas such as cybersecurity, AI testing, standardisation and data science.

The overarching goal is to promote responsible and compliant innovation, accessible to startups, SMEs and large enterprises alike. RE.M.I. will also lend support to regulatory sandboxes and other experimental innovation projects.
