The Ministry of the Economy is launching two new funding mechanisms to encourage companies to develop and operate large-scale photovoltaic power plants.
As part of its ongoing support for the expansion of photovoltaics in Luxembourg and to increase the share of electricity generated from solar energy, the Ministry of the Economy is launching two new calls for tenders, tailored to the needs and expectations of companies:
The aid will be awarded through a competitive tendering process.
Compared to previous investment aid schemes, a key novelty is the introduction of sub-lots within each lot, specifically dedicated to photovoltaic installations with battery storage. These sub-lots aim to encourage companies to invest in batteries by offering higher subsidies that reflect the greater investment costs.
The goal is to further optimise the use of solar electricity, through self-consumption, energy sharing, charging stations, and other storage-related applications.
These new sub-lots are fully aligned with the strategic roadmap for promoting and developing electricity storage batteries in Luxembourg, the "Späicherstrategie Lëtzebuerg", presented on 9 July.
To help companies understand the details and practical procedures of these tenders, Two free information webinars will be organised with the support of the national innovation agency, Luxinnovation, on 16 September (in French) and 19 September (in English). These webinars will focus on the updates and changes to the calls for tenders, and will provide an opportunity to address all questions regarding both types of aid.
