Mario Grotz appointed new CEO of Luxinnovation

The Board of Directors of Luxinnovation, the national innovation agency, has unanimously decided to appoint Mario Grotz as CEO from 1 March 2025. He will succeed Sasha Baillie, who will take up her post as Marshal of the Court on that date.

Mario Grotz, First Government Counsellor, was head of the Directorate-General (DG) for Infrastructure and Technology of the Ministry of the Economy between 2009 and 2012. He then took over the ministry’s DG Research, Intellectual Property and New Technologies, which in 2021 became DG Inter (Innovation, New Technologies and Research). He has also chaired the Board of Directors of Luxinnovation since 2018, a position he will hand over on 1 March. He will be seconded from the Ministry for his new role as CEO.

20 startups selected for the Fit 4 start #15 programme

The names of the 20 startups that will participate in the 15th edition of the Fit 4 Start acceleration programme at the beginning of 2025 were officially announced during the Luxembourg Venture Days, the flagship event of the Luxembourg startup ecosystem. Luxembourg Venture Days to unite investors, startups and innovators on 16 and 17 october 2024

The second edition of the Luxembourg Venture Days will gather investors, startups, and innovators in a joint summit on 16 and 17 October 2024 at Luxexpo The Box. The annual event is organised by Luxembourg’s innovation agency Luxinnovation and the Luxembourg Private Equity and VC Association (LPEA) under the umbrella of Startup Luxembourg, the country’s network to promote its startup ecosystem. This event offers a unique opportunity for investors and startups to connect and explore new partnerships and investment opportunities.

On the sidelines of the presentation of Luxinnovation's 2023 annual report at Fours Hein, Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, and Sasha Baillie, CEO of Luxinnovation, announced the standardisation of the "Fit 4" programmes and the launch of a new programme: Fit 4 Digital – AI, dedicated to artificial intelligence. At the same time, the Minister announced the introduction of a new SME package focusing on artificial intelligence.
